Who do you call about a Louisiana unemployment claim?

Unemployment Insurance claims: 1-866-783-5567
There is no separate weekly claim number in Louisiana. Appeals travel a different route from the claims line, and the American Job Centers listed further down are job service offices rather than claim offices.
The number for a new claim and for each week
1-866-783-5567 is the Easy Call System. Louisiana Works uses it for filing a new Unemployment Insurance claim, for requesting each weekly payment by phone, and for questions about a claim you already have.
Local Easy Call numbers have been deactivated, so the toll-free number is the one that still answers.

Wage records are the one thing on that list a phone call will not get you. Post a written request carrying your Social Security number, your name, and a return address to Louisiana Works, UI Custodian of Records, Room 390, P.O. Box 44094, Baton Rouge, LA 70804-9094. Call (225) 342-3018 for additional information about the request, not to place it. Ask early if you are heading for an appeal, because nothing about the 15-day deadline waits for the post.
Appeals do not go through the claims line
An appeal is filed in writing. Louisiana Works takes one online through HiRE, by email to ClerkAppeal@la.gov, by fax to 225-346-6077, or by mail to Louisiana Works, Attn: Appeals Tribunal, P.O. Box 94094, Baton Rouge, LA 70804-9094.

What an American Job Center is for
Louisiana Works lists these centers by parish or region, and the help they give is in-person job service assistance. The agency may require you to visit one for an eligibility review and reemployment services appointment, and benefits may be denied if you do not attend.
Money on a claim, a determination you disagree with, or a payment that has not arrived belongs on the claims line or in your HiRE account instead. What the centers do help with, including the job bank you search while you claim, is on the job search page.
Centers by city
The centers are grouped by city below, and not all of them keep a working week. East Carroll, at Lake Providence, opens 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the 4th of each month. West Carroll, at Oak Grove, opens 9:00 a.m. to noon on the 4th of each month and every other Friday as needed, or by appointment. Madison, at Tallulah, opens Wednesday mornings or by appointment. Caldwell at Columbia, Jackson at Jonesboro, and Tensas at St. Joseph open on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, or by appointment. The East Baton Rouge South center is marked temporarily closed. Those are the narrowest, not the whole of it: roughly a dozen more open only on particular days of the week, some on one day. Call before you travel, wherever you are going.
