Where do you search for jobs in Louisiana?

Short answer

Search HiRE, the state job bank Louisiana Works runs. It is the same self-service system you file and manage an unemployment claim in, so one login covers both.

Search jobs in HiRE

Registering for work in HiRE is part of a Louisiana claim rather than an optional extra, and Louisiana Works can require you to keep reporting as it asks. Which half of HiRE holds the job bank is the first thing to sort out.

The job bank inside HiRE

HiRE stands for Helping Individuals Reach Employment. Louisiana Works runs it as a single self-service system, joining the unemployment claims side to the Louisiana Virtual One-Stop side, and the job search sits on that second side.

The login you already use for online job services is the login that opens unemployment services, so there is no second account to make. Registering for work, filing a claim, reopening one, and requesting weekly benefits all sit behind that single login.

In-person help at an American Job Center

Louisiana's American Job Centers, listed by parish or region, provide in-person job service assistance across the state. They are where to go when you want a person to work through the search with you.

If a letter calls you in for an eligibility review and reemployment services appointment, go. The handbook says benefits may be denied for not attending.

The centers, with their addresses and phone numbers, are listed on the offices page.

Career tools the state publishes

Louisiana Works publishes its own career exploration tools: Louisiana Career Clusters, Louisiana Star Jobs, the Louisiana Licensing Guide, My Life/My Way, and Registered Apprenticeship.

Open the career exploration tools on Louisiana Works' own site.

Keep the record as you go

When you file each week you report the activities you did to find work, so note each application, interview, and job fair as it happens rather than trying to remember the week later. The weekly claims page covers what the agency counts.
